let's see blackmail only works for as long as your blackmail material is valuable force deterrent is usually pretty good, but that requires him believing you're capable of it or surrounding yourself with people who *definitely* are, and willing that only works for as long as your shields are around, and he has to know there's no getting past them and no convincing you to put them down
it also requires he maintain a sense of fearing consequence, but sometimes guys like this get too far gone for that sort of thing to be a permanent solution
as for his powers that's not terribly dangerous, comparatively i mean, the lasers are a problem illusions, is that like virtual reality immersion, or holograms? hard light, soft light? can you touch them, or is it only light and sound? and is it all tech-based? or just partially?
and okay that's not bad if it's just an illusion of a nightmare, that's a lot easier to deal with most of the time around here the nightmares can actually kill you
he's not harmless, but there's a ton of more powerful imports around here he won't be hard to subdue so what's important is 1: making sure that *you* can endure him coming after you again if your powers aren't enough to beat him on your own 2: getting your deterrents in position so that he won't try 3: extending those deterrents to protect the people around you, so he doesn't try hurting you that way.
oh ok i didn't really watch movies as a kid and everyone's stories disappear once they show up, if they existed here so i don't know anything about the stuff people are from

well, he's not the only one who can make illusions or bend perception, is he? you just have to find who else can expose yourself to enough impossible, nightmare scenarios on your own terms then anything he tries will be something you're used to
it helps in other situations, too it's not always illusions, but sometimes reality around here does get strange there are times that people might mess with the environment you're in or play with your emotions obscure your memories put you in strange, surreal circumstances, that shouldn't be possible
things like that
the more you can adapt yourself to those different things and find your senses despite them the more able you'll be to act within those situations
nothing i can do is really useful for that try hitting up the justice league, maybe or aegis force you shouldn't have to explain what it's *really* for but if they don't have anyone on the roster who can train you on those sorts of things someone should know who can
